The programme will be focused on providing Mining Operator Trainee-ships to develop production skills in an iron ore operation along with qualifications to expand future employment opportunities within this exciting and expanding industry.

The Opportunity:

  • 12 month fixed term Mining Operator Trainee-ship offered on a fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) basis

  • Formal on-the-job training at one of Fortescue’s operational sites

  • Completion of nationally recognised Certificate II Surface Extraction Operations

  • Opportunity to apply for permanent roles at Trainee-ship completion

  • Mining exposure and experience gained in one of Australia’s largest employers

About you:


In order to be considered for this opportunity, you will have:

  • Previous experience operating earth-moving equipment, not necessarily in a production or mining environment

  • Full C Class License

  • An enthusiastic outlook with strong initiative and the willingness to step up to challenges

  • Committed approach to safety and fulfilling all aspects of training required for the role

  • The ability and willingness to assume a 7 days, 7 nights, 7 off FIFO roster

  • Residency in WA, in Perth or the Pilbara

  • The ability to commit to full time work and study whilst working a FIFO roster
